“ What do Shaq’s party shoes and the Dodger’s Stadium have in common?… they both have similar square feet.”
As a fan of square foot ‘dress’ shoes, I believe the historic link between shoe fashion and multifamily architecture to be quite interesting. On the accompanying image there is an implicit link between the hidden keystone and selling the image of ‘great arch support’ that transforms a solid column into a horizontal billboard.
For this occasion I need a square foot and for that occasion I need a ’rounded’ foot in order to present a selling idea. For basketball all-stars like Shaq the statement “…it’s gross what I net…” (Drake) probably makes more sense. And so it makes more cents, as well.
With leased buildings for ‘Multiple Families’ or virtual buildings of ‘Revit Families’ gross/net square footage help qualify and quantify things like use, responsibility, etc. Families help re-lease the fluid nature of the ebbs and flows of cost per square foot over time.
Buy now or rent!!
Working with multiple families and working within multifamily can be quite complex within a big complex as well. A Realtor can, for example, buy a retail building (or crowd-fund with Fundrise), and then lease the subdivided spaces to those that buy into the value or vision.
It’s like watching how footsteps from multiple traffic levels in time sometimes flow either way; protecting the system by letting the building ‘breathe’ through very careful and rigorous steps.
“Those that Kahn, can, and those that Kant, can as well”
What makes ‘sense’ and what makes ‘cents’ are not that dissimilar. Sometimes it’s both deciding on the right color of silica sand and the right location of a utility vent that can help project the smell of success. It’s the reasons behind ratios: price vs value; supply and demand; buy low, sell high; quality and quantity; tempo and time, etc.
So, in a complex system how are we going to organize our ‘moving’ spaces? When are we going to move to space? How can we use Bau Hausian kicks to make a tight space sell? Most likely by thinking outside our shell, by thinking outside symmetry as well. In 4D the building can live rationally (like Costs to a Corporation), and in 5D the ‘Cents’ can be justified with ratios (like Cost per Square Feet – in the most likely sense of the word).
Further, the sense of style, after the stories of success fade, might go to the one that finds the fun in wearing mismatched shoes in order to make a timely yet provocative statement.
